Previously having been invloved in design, photography and post production (and having done AWARD school), these interests evolved into directing TVC productions.

Dereks selection of work includes elements of: narrative, performance, wit, humour and sometimes “a style”.

Numerous awards and nominations for craft and agency include: Direction (MADC) for Empire Jumping Castle, best direction nominees for Cindy Mole, ANZ Beter ways, Whirlpool, Classic Note Milk. Prouduction Design for Empire (AWARD) and Cinematography award (MADC). Cannes shortlist for Classic Milk, Cindy Mole, ANZ but no banana (yet).
